Au bistro des découvertes
Our popular series of musical pairings presents its third season!
Our sweet little concert series has been a big success! Au bistro des découvertes, as the name implies, is a place for discoveries in music, but also just a nice place to spend an evening. Our audience feedback tells us that this series has a uniquely personal and relaxed vibe that keeps them coming back.
The secret to this special ambiance? It’s the special camaraderie among musicians. The formula is as follows: a well-known figure in Francophone musical circles invites us to meet a lesser-known, yet highly talented musical acquaintance. A high-school friend. A rising star. A talented back-up band member. A dream-come-true stage partner. One thing is sure: it will be a memorable encounter.
Along with their musical recommendations, the host artists also share their food preferences by composing the evening’s meal menu. Their chosen dish and drinks evoke memories of travel and family gatherings or their go-to comfort food. Even the recorded music in the background during the meal is the host artist’s playlist. The overall effect is a special impression, as if we’ve been invited into a star’s inner circle.
Au bistro des découvertes, over the course of two seasons, we’ve welcomed the likes of Robert Paquette, Stef Paquette, Patricia Cano, Dayv Poulin, Ed Landry, Cécile Doo-Kingué, Simon Jutras and many more, including the series’ creator himself, Dan Bédard, in the company of their invited musical guests.
Like us regular folk, headliner musicians love to share their tastes in music with friends. So, come and be a friend! It’s one Tuesday per month, from September to December. Consider this your personal invitation. We’ll meet up soon, Au bistro des découvertes, season 3.
Discover our host artist's favorite meal from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., followed by the show from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
**Meals by reservation only. For those who wish to enhance their evening experience by sharing the dinner, it must be reserved in advance, no later than the Thursday before the event. No orders can be taken on site. Thank you for your understanding. If you have already reserved your meal, there is no need to contact us. Your reservation has already been recorded.**

Louis Simao presents...
Born to Portuguese parents in Toronto, he now lives with us up here in Sudbury. He has been composing, performing and recording with renowned artists as a pianist, accordionist, bassist,
guitarist and singer in various genres for 25 years. He was named World Beat Artist of the Year at the 2018 Independent Music Awards. In February, his friend Patricia Cano introduced us to him and Jessica Lloyd at a wonderful evening at our Bistro. Now it's his turn to have us discover a good friend of his.
Suzi Silva
She immigrated from Portugal to Canada at the age of 6 and made her stage debut in Montreal at
age 11 singing fado, her native country’s signature style of sentimental and dramatic song. At 12,
she returned to Portugal, where she studied various musical genres before falling into jazz once
and for all. She came back to Montreal at the age of 29 and soon became a regular attraction at
jazz festivals and clubs with her unique blend of fado and bossa nova rubbing shoulders with jazz
and French chanson.
A Portuguese-inspired menu!
Mama G’s, our chef, announces a Portuguese-inspired menu, featuring Louis’s favorite dish:
Feijoada (Portuguese bean stew)
Dessert: Arroz Doce (Sweet lemon rice pudding)
Discover our artist godparents’ favorite meal from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., followed by the show from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
