A fourth season for this popular serie!

Our sweet little concert series has been a big success! Au bistro des découvertes, as the name implies, is a place for discoveries in music, but also just a nice place to spend an evening. Our audience feedback tells us that this series has a uniquely personal and relaxed vibe that keeps them coming back.

The secret to this special ambiance? It’s the special camaraderie among musicians. The formula is as follows: a well-known figure in Francophone musical circles invites us to meet a lesser-known, yet highly talented musical acquaintance. A high-school friend. A rising star. A talented back-up band member. A dream-come-true stage partner. One thing is sure: it will be a memorable encounter.

Along with their musical recommendations, the host artists also share their food preferences by composing the evening’s meal menu. Their chosen dish and drinks evoke memories of travel and family gatherings or their go-to comfort food. Even the recorded music in the background during the meal is the host artist’s playlist. The overall effect is a special impression, as if we’ve been invited into a star’s inner circle.

Au bistro des découvertes, over the course of three seasons, we’ve welcomed the likes of Robert Paquette, Breen LeBoeuf, Stef Paquette, Patricia Cano, Dayv Poulin, Ed Landry, Cécile Doo-Kingué, Simon Jutras, Céleste Lévis, and many more, including the series’ creator himself, Dan Bédard, in the company of their invited musical guests.

Simon Jutras

Mclean is the solo project of Simon Jutras, a classically trained musician from Sudbury. He released his debut album, Sans l’abri d’un quand, in 2015 and received the Best Francophone Album award at the Northern Ontario Music and Film Awards (NOMFAs), a gala celebrating the arts industry in Northern Ontario.

Over the following years, Mclean performed on numerous stages across Ontario, including the National Arts Centre and Up Here, as well as in Quebec at events such as Petite-Vallée and the Francos de Montréal, and in New Brunswick at Francofête en Acadie. His second album, Une dernière fois, earned two awards at the 2019 Trille Or Gala, including Best Album.

In recent years, Mclean has performed several times in Europe, with shows in France, including MaMA Paris and Changez d’Air, as well as in Switzerland at Voix de Fête. In 2025, he received nine nominations at the Trille Or Gala for his album Anonyme and launched Picaroon, a multidisciplinary show with the spirit of a rock opera.

This marks a powerful return to the stage, paying tribute to the artist-songwriter’s rock roots.

Simon Daniel

Simon Daniel, originally from Moncton, New Brunswick, navigates the intersections of pop, electronic, alternative, and rock music, projecting his transcendent voice through the sounds of an urban and timeless Acadia. Set against layers of analog synthesizers, his melodies carry introspective and evocative lyrics that blend French, English, and Chiac.

Four years after his debut album Nightcrawler, which earned him several accolades, including two ECMA nominations and a nomination for Music Artist of the Year at the Éloizes Awards, Simon returns with Sans titre (for now), a project produced in collaboration with Fransaskois multi-instrumentalist Mario Lepage, the creative force behind Ponteix. The album marks an evolution toward more direct and contemplative songs that, within a distinctly pop format, still leave plenty of room for sonic and textural experimentation.

Place des Arts does not have its own parking lot, we encourage you to use the downtown parking.

Parking fees can be paid using your mobile device and the HotSpot Parking app.

You can also pay at the parking meter if you prefer.

However, city parking (7) and parking along Elgin and Larch streets is free in the evenings and on weekends.
