On the occasion of its 75th anniversary, Carrefour francophone de Sudbury is pleased to invite you to the launch of Grandir et bâtir en milieu minoritaire, a beautifully illustrated book by historian Serge Dupuis, published by Éditions du Septentrion, tracing the evolution of the cultural centre throughout three quarters of a century of Francophone life in Sudbury.

From its beginnings as the Centre des jeunes to the present day, the book explores the origins, ambitions, transformations, challenges and successes that have shaped the Carrefour francophone across generations. Drawing on archival material, newspaper articles and numerous interviews, it chronicles 75 years of commitment to supporting individuals in their cultural journeys and contributing to the development of the Francophone community.

Published as a coffee-table book, the work features nearly 300 images. The foreword is written by Ronald Caza.

To celebrate the book’s publication and bring this history to life, the evening will feature a panel discussion moderated by Éric Robitaille, Radio-Canada. The conversation will revisit key moments in the Carrefour’s history, highlight the people who helped build it, and explore the importance of cultural institutions in minority-language communities, and, above all, the motivations and determination that have allowed them to endure.
