A fourth season for this popular serie!

Our sweet little concert series has been a big success! Au bistro des découvertes, as the name implies, is a place for discoveries in music, but also just a nice place to spend an evening. Our audience feedback tells us that this series has a uniquely personal and relaxed vibe that keeps them coming back.

The secret to this special ambiance? It’s the special camaraderie among musicians. The formula is as follows: a well-known figure in Francophone musical circles invites us to meet a lesser-known, yet highly talented musical acquaintance. A high-school friend. A rising star. A talented back-up band member. A dream-come-true stage partner. One thing is sure: it will be a memorable encounter.

Along with their musical recommendations, the host artists also share their food preferences by composing the evening’s meal menu. Their chosen dish and drinks evoke memories of travel and family gatherings or their go-to comfort food. Even the recorded music in the background during the meal is the host artist’s playlist. The overall effect is a special impression, as if we’ve been invited into a star’s inner circle.

Au bistro des découvertes, over the course of three seasons, we’ve welcomed the likes of Robert Paquette, Breen LeBoeuf, Stef Paquette, Patricia Cano, Dayv Poulin, Ed Landry, Cécile Doo-Kingué, Simon Jutras, Céleste Lévis, and many more, including the series’ creator himself, Dan Bédard, in the company of their invited musical guests.

Andrea Lindsay

Born in Guelph and being Anglophone, Andrea Lindsay fell in love with the French language during a trip to France at the age of 18. Since French and music are her two passions, it seemed obvious to her to combine them.

Charlotte Renaud

Charlotte Renaud is a Montreal-based singer-songwriter who experiments with folk, jazz, and soft rock to express her feelings through music.

As a multi-instrumentalist who plays the piano and guitar, her best instrument remains her voice. Her first single, written when she was seventeen, was “The River,” a reflection on coming of age and her entry into the Montreal music scene. Since its release, she has performed both as a solo artist and with her band in bars and small venues, primarily in Montreal. Her debut album, “The Mess in My Room,” released on June 2, was written, recorded, and co-produced by Charlotte and artist Ryan Brio in her bedroom—hence the title. The mostly English-language album features one French-language track titled “Toutàlenvers,” signaling that creating music in French is very much a possibility. She is currently working on her next album, which will be bilingual.

Discover our host artist’s favorite meal from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., followed by the show from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

On the menu: A creamy tartiflette made with brie, potatoes, onions caramelized in white wine, and thinly sliced pork lardons, served with a salad made of arugula, cherry tomatoes, and haskap maple vinaigrette.

For dessert, caramelized apple pie in a butter pastry crust with whipped lemon cream.

The special beverage of the evening will be a glass of Pierre Sparr Gewürztraminer!

Place des Arts does not have its own parking lot, we encourage you to use the downtown parking.

Parking fees can be paid using your mobile device and the HotSpot Parking app.

You can also pay at the parking meter if you prefer.

However, city parking (7) and parking along Elgin and Larch streets is free in the evenings and on weekends.
