Chris Velan

Chris Velan is a singer-songwriter and producer from Montreal. He has released seven albums and toured North America with festival performances at The Lincoln Center, Sundance Festival, Montreal International Jazz Festival, Hillside Festival, Virgin Festival and Osheaga. His most recent album, “Amateur Hour” (2018), saw its single, “All Time Record”, charting on CBC Radio 3’s Top 30 Songs and his previous album, Glow” (2016), had its single, “un-American Gothic”, appear on CBC Radio 2’s Top 100 Songs Of the Year. His music, a mix of world-influenced singer-songwriter pop, has drawn comparisons to Neil Finn, Nick Lowe and Paul Simon. As a producer, he has worked with Sierra Leone’s Refugee All Stars and Haitian music collective, Lakou Mizik. He is also currently in a collaborative duo project with Mauritanian-Senegalese songwriter, Daby Touré, with whom he has released a debut EP, “Emissaire Vol. 1”.

Chris Velan est un auteur-compositeur-interprète et producteur de Montréal. Il a sept albums à son actif  et a fait des tournées en Amérique du Nord avec des performances au Lincoln Center, au Sundance Festival, au Festival international de Jazz de Montréal, au Hillside Festival, au Virgin Festival et à Osheaga. Sa musique est un mélange de folk, pop et d'influences mondiales. Elle a été comparée à celle de Neil Finn, Nick Lowe et Paul Simon. En tant que producteur, il a travaillé avec le groupe Refugee All Stars du Sierra Leone et le collectif de musique haïtienne Lakou Mizik. Il est également dans un projet en duo avec l'auteur-compositeur mauritanien-sénégalais, Daby Touré, avec qui il a sorti un premier EP, Emissaire Vol. 1 en 2020.
