Chibane, an Algerian artist born in Algiers in 1984, combines varied musical inspirations with his North African heritage. After being part of the group Diwan Dzair and the Matouche project in Morocco, he returned to Algeria to create his own fusion of world music. In 2014, he signed with One Shot and released his first album Melomania in 2016, followed by Music-Houl in 2018, combining Algerian music hall and festive jazz. Committed to social causes, he wrote songs during the Hirak protests, which led to him being banned from performing in Algeria in 2022. He then emigrated to Quebec, where he is working on a new musical project, blending his roots and his Quebec experience. Chibane seeks to reach a wide audience and celebrate cultural diversity. His creations are performed at festivals such as Orientalys (2022) and the Festival du Monde Arabe (2024). Today, he continues his journey between revisited chaâbi, gypsy jazz and socially conscious songs !
