Ibibio Sound Machine’s music “crosses genres and skips past musical borders” (The Guardian, 2022). Diva with many sides, reigning with a powerful voice at times wild, sensual, other times sober, Eno Williams is the face of this exhilarating group whose sound is lush, super elastic and full of surprise. A profusion of West African funk contrasted by new wave post-punk and electro music, and pumped up with Highlife and Afrobeat straight out of the capitals’ trendiest clubs, Ibibio Sound Machine’s rhythms spring from the interplay between dynamic percussion, dizzying brass and analogue synths borrowed from an earlier time. Now the group is set to introduce their brand-new album, Pull the Rope.
