THEATRE PERFORMANCE
“What is it to look back on a life?” asks Anne in the opening line of THIS IS ANNE ~ Older & Wiser ~. Anne Shirley Blythe, of Green Gables fame, now in her later years, reminisces and reflects on her past—the very difficult moments and those of great joy.
Created, compiled and performed by Maja Bannerman, with accompanying music by Rusty McCarthy, this 55-minute performance includes many of the beloved moments from Anne of Green Gables and the subsequent seven novels in the series by Lucy Maud Montgomery.
Bannerman becomes Anne and McCarthy’s music subtly weaves in and out of the scenes adding a soundscape that brings a deep emotional connection to Anne’s world.

WORKSHOP
The Power of Words Aloud: From the Page to the Stage
Experience how your voice, combined with gestures and soundscape, can transform text on the page to theatre on the stage. Maja will guide the participants on how to use their voice and body in different ways to create a theatrical presentation of text. With vocal and theatre exercises, participants will discover the possibilities of how to bring text to life.
Rusty McCarthy will improvise a musical soundscape and/or background incidental music for each text.
Participants will have the opportunity to explore and perform their text.
Notes for Reflection that support both creative and personal growth will be a take-away at the end of the workshop.
Bring with you a short text (poem, story, journal entry, script), or choose from a selection of literature on-site. The excerpts are limited to a 2-minute length when spoken aloud.
This workshop is open to all. No prior experience is required.
