Kimya

Originally from Kinshasa, in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Kimya moved to Ottawa in 2004. Quickly drawn to various creative realms, he immersed himself in visual arts, breakdancing, and photography, all of which allowed him to channel his thirst for creation. He soon discovered a passion for words and writing, giving rise to his first texts. Through his poetry, Kimya builds a world shaped by lived experiences, dreams, and a desire to create a space of peace and escape. A semi-finalist at the Festival international de la chanson de Granby in 2017, he released his first EP Or & Flamme that same year, which went on to win the 2019 Trille Or award in the Discovery category.
