Moonfruits

There’s a buzz in the village of Ste-Quequepart. Moonfruits revisits the fictional village just as the local bees mysteriously begin devouring anything made of metal. Little by little, infrastructure collapses and an entire society begins to transform. This is the thread running through Réveil, the new concept album and fourth release from contemporary folk group Moonfruits.

Active since 2013, partners and collaborators Alex Millaire and Kaitlin Milroy live and create on unceded Anishinaabe Algonquin Territory, also known as Ottawa. Performing in both French and English, the group tours across Canada, the United States, and Europe for anglophone, francophone, multilingual, and francophile audiences alike.

2024 proved to be a landmark year for the band, with two Canadian Folk Music Award nominations, tours across Canada and the U.S. — including opening for Juno Award winner Aysanabee — selection as a pilot artist for Ontario Presents’ Slow Touring Pilot Project, and a seven-week European Slow Tour to close out the year. Moonfruits also recently received the Prix Changez d’Air, which will bring the group to France and Switzerland in May 2025.

Guitar, banjo, harmonium, and upright bass accompany the warm vocal harmonies at the heart of the project. Moonfruits favours a trio format to bring the world of Réveil to life, moving between songs and storytelling to make audiences laugh, reflect, and dream.
