An event of international renown, the Carrefour mondial de l’accordéon is an annual gathering that has been presented for 35 years, spanning 3 days over Labor Day. It takes place in Montmagny, in the picturesque Chaudière-Appalaches region, where accordion enthusiasts and those who wish to discover it can enjoy this unique festival. The program offers a wide variety of performances, featuring nearly 65 musicians from Quebec, across Canada, and about ten other countries. The musicians showcase the vast range of accordion sounds in numerous musical styles, ranging from traditional and classical music to jazz and folk.

Montmagny is located in the Chaudière-Appalaches region at an hour east of Quebec and an hour and half west from Rivière-du-Loup.

Natalino Marchetti

Natalino Marchetti was born in Latina, Italy, in 1975. Recognized as one of Italy’s finest accordionists, he is particularly renowned in the jazz world for his fiery style that captivates audiences. A winner of numerous international awards (Germany, France, Italy), he frequently performs abroad. His prolific career earned him the prestigious "Boniface VIII" Prize for his outstanding achievements and exceptional professional, human, and social qualities. A gold casting of his right hand is preserved at the International Museum of Accordion Greats in Castelfidardo, alongside legends like Richard Galliano and Wolmer Beltrami. He recorded Italian Songbook with Luca Aquino and Danilo Rea for ACT Music, one of Europe’s leading labels.

Bridge & Wolak

Bridge & Wolak is a globetrotting duo that blends traditional instruments with 21st-century digital technology. Michael Bridge (accordion, piano) and Kornel Wolak (clarinet, piano) perform their own music, drawing from their classical roots and passion for jazz and tango. With virtuosity and an endless sense of wit, these two lively gentlemen embody the modern concept of musician-entertainers-educators. Michael Bridge is a recipient of the Canada Council for the Arts’ Virginia Parker Prize.

Diarmuid Ó Meachair & Denis Pépin

Diarmuid Ó Meachair hails from Cúil Aodha, County Cork, Ireland. An accomplished melodeon player and sean-nós singer, he is a native Irish speaker and was awarded the prestigious TG4 Young Musician of the Year title in 2022. Diarmuid currently teaches in the music department at University College Cork (Ireland) and at the College of the Holy Cross (Worcester, Massachusetts, USA).

Born in Saint-Basile-de-Portneuf, Denis Pépin discovered the accordion at 15. Early on, he played alongside legends of Québécois and Irish traditional music, such as Philippe Bruneau, Jean Carignan, Joe Deranne, and Jules Verret, immersing himself in their rich repertoires. For over 40 years, he has been dedicated to teaching the accordion, passing on both technique and tradition. His contributions have earned him numerous accolades: in 2024, he was named a Maître des traditions vivantes in diatonic accordion by the Conseil Québécois du Patrimoine Vivant and recognized as an Arirang Master by Culture Master in South Korea.

Triptik

Marie-Jeanne Brousseau (accordion), Courtney Drew (violin), and Alanna Jenish (guitar) form the trio "Triptik." Coming together from Eastern Townships and Ontario, they blend Canadian and Irish influences to create a sound full of energy, depth, and originality.

This trio shines brightly on folk stages across Canada and the United States, captivating audiences with their dynamic performances. This year, the group is making their debut at the Carrefour Mondial de l'Accordéon.
