RONU MAJUMDAR

Ronu Majumdar is a legend in Indian classical music and plays the bamboo flute known as Bansuri, which is considered to be the instrument of the beloved Hindu deity Krishna. He learnt his art initially from his father from the age of six and later from illustrious musicians such as Pandit Vijaya Raghava Rao and Pandit Ravi Shankar. Besides Indian classical music of which he is a virtuoso, Ronu has a deep association with Indian film industry and has worked with RD Burman, Gulzar, Kishore Kumar, Asha Bhonsle and others. He has made popular albums such as “Ethereal rhythms” and “Heart to Heart” with the incomparable percussionist Zakir Hussain and has also collaborated with famous artists from the west such as Ry Cooder, Jon Hassel, Lary Coryell & George Harrison.

Indranil Mallick

Indranil Mallick, a promising tabla player of rare skill, has already established himself both as a soloist and accompanist. Born to a family of genuine music connoisseurs, he received his initial training in tabla when he was only five, from his uncle, Sri Montu Mallick. Later he was trained by Prof. Dhabol Bandyapadhaya. From 1985 he was under the guidance of Sri Uttam Chakraborty, senior disciple of Pandit Swapan Chaudhuri. Now he is under the guidance of Pt. Swapan Chaudhuri . Indranil belongs to Luckhnow Gharana style of tabla. Indranil is a grade 'A' artist of All India Radio, Kolkata where he is featured regularly on programs aired throughout India. He holds a Master Degree in Economics from Rabindra Bharati University, Kolkata.
