Julie Beaulieu and Sonia St. Michel form the duo "ARUPA". Arupa is an incursion into the anti chamber of forms. Marrying the patterns of a yantra, a geometric ritual space inspired by diagrams and games, they explore the imprints left by their respective practices of Odissi and Bharatanatyam. In doing so, they seek to reveal the sensitive experience hidden behind the forms. Like contemplative warriors, they move from invocation to evocation to build an imaginary temple where the notions of path, passage and portal meet. The dance is constantly changing: body, memory, thought, images and traces vacillate between form and formlessness. ARUPA is an invitation to enter a choreographic and sound architecture where fragments of transparency appear, in the presence of two warriors of contemplation who shoot arrows of intuition.
