With the generous support of: Emmanuel Giry, Honorary Consul of France in Calgary; Susan Ouriou; Gérard Carlier.
The Honorary Consul of France in Calgary, La Cité des Rocheuses, the Alliance Française of Calgary, and Calgary Accueil are pleased to invite you to celebrate French National Day together.
What makes July 14 so special for the French?
Mainly because it is France’s National Day! July 14 commemorates the significant event of the Fête de la Fédération in 1790, which took place on the first anniversary of the dismantling of the Bastille fortress on July 14, 1789. The storming of the Bastille was a symbolic event representing a new era in France and preceded the establishment of the First Republic.
