Pascal Ottawa, known as Pako, is a singer-songwriter from the Atikamekw community of Manawan. On a solid and mastered folk-rock foundation, Pako sings the lyrics, he writes in Atikamekw, his native language. He sings about powerful subject matters such as the importance to save Indigenous languages and values, he speaks about the history of his community, identity, human relations, the environment and hope for a better life. Pako is a songwriter of profound words and a deep scratchy voice of a bluesman, who has travelled far away, but still returns to draw his folk inspiration from the Atikamekw roots of his forest in Manawan, Quebec, where he lives. Anchored in the present, his new album Nanto is oriented towards what is to come, like a ray of sunlight crossing the clearing of a dense forest.
