The Focus "A roof for everyone" is presented by the Dévo Foundation

When Steeve was a young adult, his parents, members of Jehovah's Witnesses, isolated him from the rest of the world before brutally throwing him out onto the streets. Today, he is still there.

This atypical barber lives and works in his van, named Homles, which he parks here and there, sometimes more or less legally, in and around Montreal. His clients and friends gather there, forming a community around Steeve that reflects his own image: musicians, skateboarders, punks, and other friendly misfits who populate his daily life of freedom and wandering, misfortune and gratitude.

The ups and downs of Steeve's life lead him to reflect on his childhood and adolescence, which were ruled by a sectarian group with strict laws.

A portrait of a resolutely free nonconformist, Homles evokes resilience and the quest of an individual, a former member of a religious sect, and offers a meditation on uprooting, rupture, and nomadism.

The screening will be followed by a discussion with the film’s director, Bruno Chouinard, and Éric Boulay, executive director of Lauberivière
