About Yvonne Ferguson

Yvonne Ferguson has been active in the sport scenting world for over 10 years as a trainer, competitor, and judge. Her passion for scent detection has transformed her life, and she has made it her mission to share this incredible discipline with dog-handler teams.

To her, scent detection is more than just a sport: it gives dogs meaningful “work” and serves as a powerful tool for helping dogs with behavioural challenges or low confidence — especially when paired with a thoughtful behaviour modification approach.

Her philosophy: 75% of the work in trials belongs to the dog, but 75% of the work in training belongs to the handler. With years of experience training, observing, and judging thousands of teams, Yvonne firmly believes that scent detection is one of the greatest sports ever created for our canine companions.

She is a certified scent detection judge with both the CKC (Canadian Kennel Club) and the SDDA (Sporting Detection Dogs Association).
