veils of bollywood
Veils of Bollywood is a Montreal-based dance collective focused on movement techniques from Bollywood and Indian folk dance forms. Founded by Rameez Karim, VOB’s mission is to share immersive dance experiences in non-traditional contexts, promote cultural diversity through performance, and educate diverse audiences through cultural mediation activities.
A key element of VOB’s work lies in questioning many of the traditional codes associated with Bollywood dance and cinema. Challenging the status quo is essential to deconstructing some of the perspectives, attitudes and perceptions that remain deeply rooted in this art form, both within and outside the community.
