MANI SOLEYMANLOU

Writer - Director - Actor

Born in Theran, Mani Soleymanlou left his native land as a child to live in Paris, Toronto, Ottawa and finally in Montreal. Since completing his studies at the National Theatre School of Canada in 2008, his is very active on the Montreal stage, first as an actor in a series of roles on various quebecois stages under the direction of Claude Poissant, Brigitte Haentjens, Serge Denoncourt and Olivier Kemeid. In 2011, he founded his company Orange Noyee. The same year, he wrote, produced and acted in UN at the Théâtre La Chapelle in Montreal. In the fall of 2013, he created DEUX with Emmanuel Schwartz. TROIS, the last part of this identity trilogy, was presented in 2014 at the Festival TransAmériques and again at the Centre du Théâtre d'Aujourd'hui in Montreal before being completely re-created in France and presented in three parisienne institutions.

Between 2015 and 2017 a new trilogy came to life when he created Ils étaient quatre, Cinq à sept and Huit. He presented Neuf (working title) in September 2018 for the 50th anniversary of the Centre du Théâtre d'Aujourd'hui. In September 2021, he took on the role of Artistic Director at Théâtre français du Centre national des Arts in Ottawa. Zéro is his most recent creation for the stage.

On the screen he's been in the series O', Marche à l'ombre and in En famille, Hubert & Fanny, Madam Lebrun, Lâcher Prise, La Faille, C'est comme ça que je t'aime and L'épidémie. He can also be seen in the film À tous ceux qui ne me lisent pas, by Yan Giroux, as well as, Malekréalisé by Guy Édoin and La femme de mon frère by Monia Chokri.
