The Storytellers is a documentary, storytelling, and concert experience where history, territory, legend, and music intertwine in a unique artistic journey centered around friendship. Original compositions and works by Pascal Quoquochi, performed by the three accomplished musicians of the Forestare guitar ensemble, accompany the stories, poetry, and Atikamekw language of multidisciplinary artist Jacques Newashish, along with the Wendat language of Sandrine Masse-Savard. This immersive experience invites audiences into the heart of Atikamekw and Wendat cultures, where mythical tales come to life, wolves speak our language, and trees become characters in an extraordinary artistic encounter.
Alexandre Éthier, artistic director and founder of the Forestare guitar ensemble, joins founding members Olivier Labossière and Simon Auger in a guitar trio formation. With over twenty years of professional collaboration, these three accomplished musicians have developed a remarkable artistic chemistry and are now performing at the height of their artistry.
Jacques Newashish is a Canadian actor, filmmaker, painter, and sculptor. A member of the Atikamekw Nation, he comes from Wemotaci, Québec. Born in La Tuque, Québec, he grew up immersed in the traditional values, knowledge, and way of life of his people.
Sandrine Masse-Savard, a classically trained violist, has spent the past fifteen years exploring a wide range of musical traditions, lending her viola playing and voice to ensembles inspired by cultures from around the world.
