Born in Dakar into a family of artists, BO DIAW is a Senegalese singer-songwriter who began his career in comedy, acting, and theatre, inspired by his father, musician Abdou Diaw. He first made a name for himself within the neighbourhood troupe Mballo Assiko, performing sketches, popular songs, and religious chants, already asserting a signature style that bridges tradition and modernity. Now based between Senegal and Canada, he moves with ease between pop, reggae, dancehall, afrobeat, and mballax, and released the 2013 hit “C’est ma blonde!”, followed by standout tracks such as “Hypnotize” and “Yaw Lay Weur.” Honoured at the Gala Dynastie as “World Music Artist or Group of the Year,” he has performed across Africa, Europe, and the Americas, leading up to the 2024 release of his album The Village, which confirms his vision of music that is both open to the world and deeply rooted in his heritage.
