When two kindred kora souls meet, an entire world begins to resonate.Senny Camara and Zal Idrissa Sissokho share the language of 21 strings and the age-old traditions surrounding their majestic instrument. Together, they weave a dialogue between roots and the present, between Africa and the Americas, between memory and the future.

Originally from Senegal, Senny Camara makes the kora sing in a feminine voice — a force of emancipation and poetry. With her deep voice and magnetic presence, she draws inspiration as much from Sérère traditions as from great figures of freedom such as Nina Simone, Mahawa Kouyaté, and Fatou Diome.

Zal Sissokho, a griot descending from a centuries-old lineage, has been based in Montréal for over twenty years. His inspired playing and soulful voice carry the memory of Senegal as well as the mixed energy of his adopted Montréal.

In this unique concert, their two koras converse, respond, and intertwine. Their voices tell of ancestral strength and the pulse of the diaspora. A rare encounter, filled with both tenderness and power, where music becomes a language of unity and a source of light.
