Farzad Milani is a Montreal-based musician, composer, and performer whose artistic practice combines the rich and diverse musical traditions of the Near and Middle East with contemporary jazz and modern harmonic approaches. Rooted in Persian music and deeply appreciating the folk repertoires of Eastern musical cultures, Farzad’s work reflects his desire to explore and celebrate the common cultural DNA of these interconnected traditions. His current project, Golavij, brings this vision to life through a collective of musicians from diverse backgrounds. Centered on Milani’s microtonal accordion and Persian piano, the ensemble fuses Iranian and Middle Eastern folk influences with jazz improvisation and subtle electronic textures, creating a sound that is both rooted and avant-garde.
