QuimbaSoul is a Montreal-based band founded in early 2024, offering a fusion of traditional Colombian music — particularly from the Caribbean and Pacific coasts — with jazz, funk, and North American rock.
The band’s director, **Toto de la Ossa**, hailing from Colombia’s Caribbean coast, is a passionate advocate for traditional Colombian music. He also completed a Master’s degree in jazz performance during his time in Canada. It is precisely these two influences that inspired him to create this project.
The convergence of Afro-Colombian rhythms, infused with their ancestral magic, the raw energy of rock guitar, and the harmonic colors of jazz, gives rise to the unique and original sound of QuimbaSoul.
