The Psychotropical Orchestra is back. Born in the scorching summer of 2003 in Montreal, the founding trio of Mariano Franco, Fernando Pinzon and Jose Dominguez fused the tropical rhythms of Latin, the raw energy of dancehall and the trance of psychedelic rock to create a hypnotic, electrifying sound. With Invasion Psychotropical (2007), their debut album, they made a name for themselves on stages across Canada and Mexico, earning a nomination for Album of the Year - World Music at the Gala de la musique indépendante du Québec in 2008. Whether at the Festival de Jazz de Montréal or the Festival des Rythmes du Monde, the group has captivated crowds with spellbinding, exhilarating performances. In 2009, Pacheco Sessions took their sound even further, blending expansive compositions with experimental electronic textures. As their musical imprint grew stronger, Psychotropical Orchestra went silent in 2010. Now, fifteen years later, the magic is back. In 2024, the band released their third album, blending cumbia, mambo, trip-hop and psychedelic rock: a bold evolution of their past, a new chapter, and a resurgence of their intoxicating groove.
