Carmen Lienqueo possesses a magnetic voice, with deep and straightforward lyrical work capable of transporting all listeners to the diverse landscapes of Latin America. She spent 20 years performing in folk-rooted groups, a natural response to her exploration of rhythmic patterns inherent to her roots, drawing

from popular poetry and the singing traditions of South America. She traveled extensively across the continent with various projects, with the Chilean-Colombian band Makina Kandela being her primary school for 11 years. Her current exploration as a soloist and singer-songwriter is under her maternal name, presenting a repertoire with lyrics imbued with intimacy that reflects a very personal perspective, echoing the everyday reality of society in which she lives and her experiences as an artist.
