“Nesraf” is a rhythmic and melodic movement in chaâbi and Andalusian music. The term means departure and refers to the people who have immigrated over the years. It is thanks to them that this heritage has been sung, shared and perpetuated in the four corners of the world. The Nesraf group, made up of several musicians and singers, is the culmination of a decade of friendship and artistic collaboration. Together, they share a passion for Chaâbi music. The group had the opportunity to make its mark when it took part in the 24th edition of the Maghreb music festival (Nuits d’Afrique). This style of music, whose precursor was none other than the illustrious El Hadj Mohamed El Anka, who popularized it in the early 30s, is the popular music of Algeria par excellence. It’s the music of the streets, cafés and ceremonies. Whether in Algerian Arabic or Kabyle, the Nesraf group revisits chaâbi classics, adding a variety of arrangements and sonorities to each of their performances, offering us a musical promenade rich in rhythms and melodies.
