Tarikuna is a Montreal-based music group featuring musicians from Bolivia, Peru and Ecuador. Some members were born in Canada, while others are immigrants. The group explores and interprets traditional native rhythms such as Wayno (Bolivia, Ecuador, Peru), San Juanito (Ecuador), Tinku (Bolivia) and Raymis (Ecuador). The group is diverse, comprising a singer and musicians playing Andean instruments such as the Zampoña, Quena, percussion, guitar, bass, bandolin (Ecuadorian instrument), violin and charango. Tarikuna's project aims to share the rich indigenous culture of Bolivia, Peru and Ecuador with Quebec-Canadian society. They wish to pass on their feelings and respect for nature, as their communities integrated the spirit of the Andes long before the colonization of South America.
