Boulila is a unique musical fusion band, blending the African Gnawa tradition with elements of jazz, blues, funk, afrobeat, and more. The band's story began in 2016, when it was founded by Yassine Boudouch in his traditional formation. During this period, the group performed in various bars in Montreal, showcasing the richness of Gnawa music.
In 2019, the group took a bold turn by adopting a fusion line-up, fusing the members' diverse musical influences. Boulila has also collaborated with other talented artists, including WuSen Fam, Maroccouleurs, and Kais, enriching its musical palette.
The major breakthrough came when Boulila took part in the Sily D'or springboard as a fusion group, where the group won first prize, gold. This success attracted media attention, including the prestigious newspaper Le Devoir, which warmly praised the project and its musical innovation.
Boulila's road to fame didn't stop there. The group has been invited to take part in a number of prestigious festivals in 2021, including "Nuits d'Afrique" and the "Festival du Bout du Monde", as well as "Vue sur la Relève". These invitations illustrate the band's impact on the Quebec and international music scenes.
