and the grand return after a 13-year absence in Montreal of Malian icon Oumou Sangaré on April 21 at MTelus.

Sona Jobarteh - Friday, March 8 at 8:30 PM - Le National

This British-Gambian artist proudly takes centre stage with her majestic kora: an unusual but welcome sight that inspires hope, seeing a woman confidently master this iconic and symbolic instrument; seeing her embody the tradition and fully embrace her griot status. She will be in
concert on March 8 at Le National. After a memorable concert on the outdoor stage at the Festival International Nuits d’Afrique last July.

Oumou Sangaré - Sunday, April 21 at 8:00 PM - MTelus :
“The songbird of Wassoulou” is back! Oumou Sangaré will be appearing at MTelus on April 21 to celebrate her exquisite ninth album, Timbuktu. Fiercely proud of her cultural heritage, Sangaré is also an ardent advocate of peace. With her clear, powerful voice, she harmonizes as elegantly with the delicate notes of the kamale ngoni as the bold pop-rock-blues arrangements.
