Iba Diabaté is quite the character! His gritty personality allowed him to secretly study music behind the back of his famous griot father, Abdoulaye Diabaté, who had hoped his son would become a doctor, accountant or engineer! So, it was on the sly that the younger Diabaté honed his acoustic guitar, balafon and singing skills. And he loves being in the spotlight. Actor and model in his spare time, it is when he is playing on stage that he really shines, combining Malian rhythms with Jazz and Blues in a pop style and expressing his humanity by eloquently delivering his lyrics in the Baramba language with a captivating voice.
