Aboulaye Koné, and his son Aboubakar Sidiki, come from a family of Ivorian Griots (musicians, historians and storytellers from West Africa). Aboulaye learned music in Burkina Faso from Djeli Baba Kienou and accompanied several African stars during his career. In Canada, he is considered an undisputed Mandingo musician. His first album "Afo Gné" was nominated at the JUNO Awards in 2012 in the category Best World Music Album. His son Aboubakar is a talented multi-instrumentalist.
