Commenting on singer Corneille’s latest album in early 2022, RFI Musique called saxophonist Giovani Arteaga a “virtuoso” whose “brilliant playing” was apparent throughout. Equipped with a full range of saxophones (alto, tenor, baritone, soprano) and the finest of flutes, and backed by musicians of international calibre, Giovany Arteaga—who has worked with such renowned artists as Buena Vista Social Club’s Omara Portuondo, the Afro-Cuban All Stars and Nathalie Choquette—unleashes a profusion of AfroCuban rhythms, sustained by lively improvisations with contemporary jazz, R&B and soul overtones worthy of Havana’s finest clubs.
