Forerunner and iconic figure of Montreal’s sizzling world music scene, Paulo Ramos is all about gentleness. His warm, somewhat raspy voice and the deep chords produced on his guitar (thanks to a small adjustment he made, replacing two of the strings with thicker ones) gently envelope and caress the samba and bossa nova he plays. Ramos is the real deal—with his luminous aura and genuine smile, he creates an ambiance where intense joy and tender melancholy overlap. For his premiere at the festival, he will offer a preview of his album to be released in the fall of 2022 under the label Disques Nuits d'Afrique.
