Revelation at the 2015 International Nuits d'Afrique Festival, the Senegalese / Swedish duo Sousou and Maher Cissoko are back as part of year-round concerts.
The improbable encounters are often the most beautiful. The kora, which they both play, brought Sousou the Swedish blonde and Maher the Casamance griot together. 
Skilfully combining kora, guitar and traditional Mandingo repertoire, their complicity transcends cultures.

Sousou and Maher both grew up in families of musicians and it is the love of the West African Kora that brought them together. 
The preservation of the musical heritage is one of their important guiding lines. The performance of Sousou & Maher Cissoko offer a magnificent kora playing and song combined with reggae, folk, soul and jazz influences.

Intimately linked to the legacy of the Cissoko family and storytellers from West Africa, the songs of Sousou and Maher convey a message of unity rather than borders between countries and peoples. Moreover, the duo sings in five different languages.
