International Festival Nuits d'Afrique, 33rd Edition propose you Blues du Désert package with two shows at Fairmount Theater :

SONGHOY BLUES

«Between rock and traditional beats, these bluesmen take special care to stay in sync with the Malian people, aiming to be their attentive spokespersons» (Jeune Afrique, 2017). Projecting muscular and funky guitar riffs, against a solid backdrop of authentic Songhai sounds, this group from northern Mali, whose music has succeeded in seducing the one and only Iggy Pop, speaks for committed youth.

IMARHAN

«Following the Tinariwen phenomenon, it’s the turn of the Tuareg rockers of Imarhan to get heads spinning» (Les Inrocks, 2018). While remaining loyal to its ancestral traditions, drawn from the heart of the desert, Imarhan stands out for the worldliness of its poetry and its beats. At the heart of its music, a gruff guitar, exploring every possibility of electro, gets caught up in pop-rock melodies or in pan-African beats, even in unmistakable funk.
