During the prosperous years of Saint-Élie-de-Caxton, Toussaint Brodeur ran his general store and turned everything into profit. Through wear and tear, hard work and astonishing calculations, he amassed a handsome fortune on which he built his pride. So, when the day came for him to face Eternity, he realized that he hadn't spent much time in his safe. Toussaint was rich, but he couldn't afford to buy back even a single second of his life. It was too late.
We're all equal when it comes to time. It's how we use it that sets us apart.
Fred's stories once again bring us face to face with the characters of the legendary Caxton, and launch us back into laughter, poetry and great reflection.
Presented in partnership with the Centre Franco-Ontarien De Folklore and the Salon du livre du Grand Sudbury.

Fred Pellerin, La descente aux affaires
A literature graduate from the Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières and the son of a chartered accountant, he became a “pleasant storyteller by accident” after being lulled to sleep by the stories of his grandmother, his neighbor, Eugène, and his father.
Fred Pellerin's stories are those of his village: Saint-Élie-de-Caxton, a small Quebec village in the Mauricie region “where elves and fairies crash into windshields at night”. Anecdotes, gossip and rumors are all put through the mill by Fred Pellerin, to emerge in the form of tales for adults.
Fred Pellerin has performed over 3,300 times in French-speaking countries around the world, and has already put on 7 storytelling shows, each featuring a famous character from his own village: Dans mon village, il y a belle Lurette... (2001), Il faut prendre le taureau par les contes! (2003), Comme une odeur de muscles (2005), L'Arracheuse de temps (2008), De peigne et de misère (2012), Un village en trois dés (2017) and his latest, La descente aux affaires (2022).
In addition to five original collaborations with the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal, he has scripted three of his tales for film: Babine, released in 2008, Ésimésac (2012) and L'Arracheuse de Temps (2021). He is currently writing his fourth film script, De peigne et de misère.
Fred Pellerin has also scripted two 6-episode documentary series St-Élie-de-Légendes I and II (2015 and 2017) and a 4-episode series Il était une forêt (2023), all presented on SRC television.
He is also the author and scriptwriter of two series of audio capsules presented on the SRC's Ohdio platform: T'as un village dans l'oreille (I and II) broadcast in 2020 and 2021, and the vernacular dictionary Le petit Pellerin broadcast in 2022.
A storyteller as well as a singer, since 2009 he has sold close to 400,000 solo albums and won numerous Félix awards with each release.
