Have you ever wanted to learn about the Maori Haka?

You will learn about the Maori culture, yourself and the bonds we have with the things around us. For those returning, we will continue your journey and be more indepth.

Experience channeling ancestral energy, and nature through yourself to build up your self confidence, self esteem, inner strength and Mana.

This will be an immersive workshop for the Maori Haka so be prepared to really get into it! You will learn the practices needed to make a Haka. The basic movements, basic pronunciations of words and translations and their connection to the Haka. You will learn the more fluid movements of the Haka.

The entire Tribally Yours event, i.e. the workshops and Saturday evening show, takes place at Cégep Édouard-Montpetit at 945 chemin de Chambly, Longueuil (Quebec) J4H 3M6. Easily accessible by car or public transit, parking is available on site (for a fee) and around (free). For public transit, it is served by routes 8, 28 and 88 of the RTL. The show will take place at the Lassonde Hall, whose entrance is located in the Le Caron pavilion.

Glenn Cruz

Glenn Cruz is of mixed heritage and was born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. He has been a professional Polynesian performer for 26 years and has travelled and performed around the world. He has studied with several Maori teachers and focuses on that root of his culture. He has been an artistic director for Maori dance and specifically the Maori Haka for 13 years and teaches mainly in Quebec and in Ontario. 

His Kapa Haka dance troupe is called Whakatipū Kotahi. Translated from the Maori language means: Different spirits that grow together in a group because of culture and united in a purpose. Rerekē wairua Whakatõpū nõ ahurea Kotahi aronga. He and his Kapa Haka dance troupe bring some of the stories and legends from Aotearoa, The Land Of The Long White Cloud,(New Zealand). Through song, dance and specifically the Breath Of Fire, The Haka. Engaging and captivating, he will not only share culture but leave a long lasting impression of strength, respect and honour with our audience and our hosts.
