ESENCIA is an intimate musical journey in which Akawui invites you to travel through his life story by way of the songs that have marked and transformed him. For 70 minutes, he opens the doors to his world, carried by the refined arrangements of Gabriel Evangelista — pianist — and by the depth of Matthew Goulet on cello and double bass.

In French, Spanish, Portuguese, and Quechua, Akawui brings to life a kaleidoscope of Andean influences, bossa nova, jazz, and Latin American folklore, supported by the enchanting sounds of pan flutes, pandeiro, and berimbau.
