It is a true honor for us to host for the time in Canada a session of the legendary Jah Tubbys World System! We are very happy to invite one and all to this historical occasion to hear a selection throughout the five decades in dub.
Created in 1972 around Keith, his discreet and mysterious 'Dub Organizer', the sound is known for its unique sound and its impressive collection of dubplates and specials. But the man who has just celebrated 53 years in the music business is also a producer, for himself and for some of the world's best-known sound systems, as well as a builder of preamps, amps, speakers and loudspeakers. Jah Tubby's has played a major role in improving the quality of sound systems by developing the electronic components used in them. A complete sound craftsman at the service of conscious and militant music!
For this historic, not-to-be-missed session, the all-rounder of the British scene will be joined by Selectress Jeany Roots, Sista Mary and Macky Banton.
“One time Tubbys came down to the Lecture Hall in Tottenham, Jah Marcus invited him down to play,” remembers Flinty Badman. “But everyone is outside tutting. ‘Who’s dis Tubbys? We never heard of no Tubbys? We know King Tubby’s, we don’t know no Jah Tubbys?’ Then there’s dis white dude with long hair loadin’ in his boxes. When he turn’ on the bassline? Jesus Christ! The whole hall was shaking!” Here Flinty makes weird spasm noises before finishing his anecdote with a cackle, “‘Dat’s Tubbys just turned on den!’ EVER’BODY ran inside. Dat place shook all night, he murder’ dat place.”
