Fernie

A Montreal native, Fernie is inspired by mutually soulful artists such as Frank Ocean and Daniel Caesar. His jubilant Brazilian-Canadian ethnicity shines through his vulnerable lyrics and powerful melodies.

Yawn

Spearheaded by Julia McDougall, Yawn is an electro dream-pop project that aims to capture the stasis of our lives caught between technology and the natural world. Living and working on the territory of the Sḵwx̱wú7mesh, Stó:lō, Səl ̓ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh and xwməθkwəy̓əm peoples, Julia grew up on treaty 6 in Saskatchewan and came out west to earn a Composition Degree from Simon Fraser University. Post-degree, McDougall pursued her career living and performing in Berlin. In 2019, Yawn released their first EP, which was listed at number one and was included in the top 100 albums at CITR radio. In 2020, Yawn attended the Banff International Songwriting residency and released the single “Wasting Time,” which was notably featured by LA’s popular music blog “mxdwn,” Exclaim’s! “Canadian Eh” playlist, CBC radio one and Hype Machine, among others. Yawn has been described as an “artist oozing musical understanding" whose work is "subtly nuanced." (When the Horn Blows). Currently, Julia teaches songwriting at the Sarah McLachlan school of Music and is planning to release a full-length Yawn album in September 2022.
