The ago-old Gnawa spiritual style has continued to inspire people over the centuries while renewing itself with contemporary influences. Originally practiced by former black slaves for therapeutic purposes, gnawa rituals have been nurtured over the centuries by African animist cults, Berber beliefs and Islamic spirituality. Though this musical style has more of a “world” aspect nowadays, it remains rooted in a tradition that is alive and well!

The gifted maalem Rachid Salamate will unleash his talent on the guembri accompagnied by his musicians on traditional instruments such as the krakebs, also called the North African castanets. The show promises to be both explosive and intoxicating, carried by rising beats that will throw you off balance!
