“In the Rahbani brothers’ early works, we find a near-Utopian inkling of an ideal Lebanon, sublime and joyful, that envelops its people in an atmosphere of happiness and bliss, in an exalted patriotic breath, whether in theatrical performances or in the lyrics of the songs.” (Henri Zoghaib)

Embodying the golden age of a prosperous and culturally vibrant Lebanon, the Rahbani brothers revolutionized the history of 1950s Lebanese music, which became famous above all through the enchanting voice of the legendary Fairouz. The great opulence of their repertory, the beauty of the harmonies and melodies, and the avant-garde thrust of the message and lyrics transcended Lebanon’s borders, spreading over the Arab world and then reaching a global audience.

In a show that pays tribute to the famous Rahbani brothers and to the entire musical memory of this golden age, singers Ghada Derbas, Bassem Dib and Wissam Amar will revive the magic of the Oriental operettas composed by the Rahbanis and interpreted by Fairouz, Wadih El Safi and Nasri Chamseddine. Surrounded by some of the top Oriental musicians, led by pianist and composer Fadi Akiki, they will bring to life, in a single evening, two of the Rahbani brothers’ finest operettas: Al Mousalaha (The reconciliation) and Sahrit hobb (Night of Love), as well as some of their greatest hits brilliantly conceived in a musical dialogue by Fadi Akiki.

This eternal legacy and this memory marked by creativity will be presented with honour, bringing the audience to a galaxy where nostalgia, elation and joie de vivre are blended with emotion.
