Matiu
Matiu hails from the Côte-Nord and represents the antithesis of glitzy performers. He unleashes his raw voice like unsanded wood. After touring Quebec to present his self-titled EP released in spring 2017, Matiu returns stronger than ever with his first album Petikat, which he's promoting through numerous shows across the province. His talent earned him the Emerging Artist Award at the 2018 Teweikan Indigenous Music Gala, followed by Show of the Year and Blues/Rock Artist of the Year honors in 2019. A dedicated activist, this singer-songwriter from the Mani-Utenam community shares what he witnesses in the world, what he calls 'Indigenous 2.0', through his music.
