MATEO expresses both a globalist pop-rock culture and an inspired mix of Afro-Latin Alternative music rooted in Colombian, Cuban, Puerto Rican, Afro Beat, and Nuyorican sounds. the Montreal based singer, lyricist, and composer defines in his own way what a modern-day Spanish-speaking artist can express in the NOW, wherever he is. Since his arrival in Montreal at the age of 19, Mateo has conquered the local scene with moving energy and emotional passion. Mateo is an emerging artist from the Afro-Latin “NEW VIBE” scene. Mateo has been showcasing his talent at numerous venues as Montreal International Jazz Festival, Canada Day, Mundial Montreal, Festival Nuits d’Afrique, La Place des Arts de Montreal, (etc). He has also has toured in Cuba & Colombia. Like no other, Mateo’s production blows a wind of freedom. His first opus in 2 volumes, Vengo de Frente Vol. I & II (2023) is authentic, assertive and accessible.
