Sylvie
After meandering between stoner prog, acoustic enchantment, and funky bowling night blues, the band Sylvie returns with a new album that doesn't even dip its toes into rock before unabashedly diving in. The EP "Gros Tape de Rock" represents the most uninhibited facet of their musical project. It seeks to recapture the energy of old CDs unearthed from the glove compartments of parental cars, played at full volume until our heads spun loose.
Blue Orchid
No need for a bass player. Mathis Vogade and Alexandre Wittmer, better known as Les Blue Orchid, are a duo who play efficient, contemporary garage rock.
Like a hurricane on stage, they defend the colours of their hometown of Clamecy, following in the footsteps of Bass Drum of Death, Wavves and Mike Krol.
Al Qasar
Al-Qasar was started in the Barbès neighbourhood by US-French producer Thomas Attar Bellier. The core touring lineup includes Turkish psychedelic rock singer Sibel Durgut, French-Armenian drummer Sacha Viken and French bassist Guillaume Theoden. On the first album Who Are We?, (Glitterbeat Records), bass, drums and percussion create an irresistible groove, while electric saz and guitars build a wailing wall above, with ecstatic Turkish and Arabic vocals inspired by history as it strides into the future. Al-Qasar’s music never wavers, pulling from the hypnotic roots of North African trance and threading it into a fabric with the elaborate beauty of Arabic scales and the thrill of rock'll.
