Rötual
Hailing from the graveyard of Canada’s National Capital Region, Rötual garners the experience of well-known musicians in the Gatineau and Ottawa scene who, instead of adding their collective influences, chose to strip it down to the bones. As a result, Rötual’s music could be associated with the slow riffs of doom metal, the heaviness and harsh vocals of death metal, melted into compact slabs of mid-pace (de)compositions. Like a dead corpse with strabismus, Rötual’s rotten music has an eye turned to the past and one eye turned on you.
Burning Sanctum
Burning Sanctum formed a sludge death doom project within their dungeon of the Montreal suburbs back in 2020 when the scourge of humanity was upon us! Dismal grooves drip forth like a mired beast invoke visions of dark fantasy and cosmic dread as ritual drums deliver otherworldly vibrations, topped with guttural roars from the eternal fire's soul. Last year gave us a new vocalist, Gabriel Tulli of Engolpion. This year brought the addition of a new guitarist, Leandro, to go alongside Vincent. Together, the 5 piece will be continuing their onslaught with a new EP's worth of material to share.
Subsun
Combining sludge raw power, psychedelic heaviness of doom metal along with the more eclectic song structures found in progressive metal and a more melodic approach inherited from stoner rock, Subsun is a four-piece hailing from Gatineau, Quebec, Canada.The band, comprised of André Bélanger (Guitar), Jérémy Blais (Drums), Charles Lord (Bass/Vocals) and Jean-Michel Fortin (Guitar/Vocals), is quickly noticed in Quebec underground scene for their musical universe saturated with fuzz, punctuated with sudden transition and alternating between omnious and dark ambiance and fast and abrasive section. However, it’s mostly for the live energetic and intense live performance that they make a name for themselves with the fans of greasy tones and thunderous drums.
