Twilight in Burgundy
Historians of Western music have called the Burgundian School (early 15th century) both the first movement of the Renaissance and the culmination of the medieval period. It is also thought of as the first of several generations of the Franco-Flemish School, which helped to define the boundaries of Renaissance style. The relative political stability and geographical location of the Duchy of Burgundy during the first half of the 15th century fostered a musical culture that was hugely consequential. Its rich and culturally dense territories during this period included most of what is today Belgium and Holland, as well as Alsace and of course Burgundy itself.
An immersive weekend in the fascinating musical world of long ago! Concerts, workshops, and a banquet are on offer, led by passionate and renowned musicians, gifted in transmitting the breadth of their expertise with generosity and enthusiasm. An experience for music-lovers and musicians and singers of all levels, for those who wish to participate actively or simply to listen and discover the beauty and lively spirit of medieval music.
