Registration is not required to participate in this activity. This activity is offered in a “pop-up” format; you are not required to attend it in its entirety, and you are welcome to join halfway through.

Although this specific activity is offered from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m., the Salon will be open to all from 12:30 to 4:00 p.m.


This activity is inspired by similar activities by poet Bronwyn Preece at the Whistler Writers Festival and poet Elliott Slinn at the Vancouver Writers' Fest. We thank these two festivals for their advice during the planning of this activity.

Guy Elston

Guy Elston is a UK-born, Toronto-based poet. His debut full-length collection, The Character Actor Convention, was published in 2025 by The Porcupine’s Quill. His poems have appeared in The Malahat Review, The Ex-Puritan, The Literary Review of Canada and elsewhere. He is a member of the Meet the Presses Collective.

Nathanael Jones

Nathanael Jones is an Afro-Caribbean Canadian writer and interdisciplinary artist born in Montreal. Nathanael earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts from NSCAD University and an MFA in Writing from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. His published collections of poetry include Aqueous (The Porcupine's Quill, 2024), which was shortlisted for the 2025 Gerald Lampert Memorial Award, and the chapbooks Category Five Hurricane Alexa (Gordon Hill, 2025), La Poésie Caraïbe (Damask Press, 2018), and ATG (HAIR CLUB, 2016). His work has been exhibited and performed at galleries, arts venues, and alternative spaces across North America and the United Kingdom. He has been published online and in print with Aurochs, DREGINALD, Infinity's Kitchen, Singing Saw Press, Ghost Proposal, Present Tense Pamphlets, Funny Looking Dog Quarterly, Partial Press, Heavy Feather Review, TIMBER Journal, Action, Spectacle, and POETRY Magazine.
