Ever since I was a child, I have seen, admired and especially heard Celine. My passion for music and singing was innate, coming from families of musicians (my fiddling grandfather, my grandmother pianist and my great-grandmother accordionist) it came naturally to me. Throughout my life, I will follow Celine and practice tirelessly and always with the same passion for her songs and also for her life. The love she conveys to her audience gives me wings. In recent years, I have played The Prayer in a duet with the international baritone Gino Quilico. This show is a dream come true for me. I hope that you'll enjoy! I look forward to seeing you very soon!
Véronique Turcotte, violoniste
Biography
Born in the region of Bois-Francs (Victoriaville), Véronique is surrounded by music from an early age. At the age of three, she began learning violin with Nicole Larivière from the Vivaldi movement. First enrolled in the music program at Sacré-Coeur Elementary School, she continued her instrumental studies at Mitchell and Montcalm secondary schools in Sherbrooke and then at Jean-de-Brébeuf School in Quebec City. At the same time she takes private lessons in violin and piano.
Member of duets and string quartets, participant in solo competitions, it seemed at this time that Veronique would know the usual course of a violinist. But the teachers of Jean-de-Brébeuf offer him very different openings: she joins as a pianist to different ensembles and jazz combos of the school. Without her suspecting it, these experiences will become very important in her life.
Her abilities as a classical musician are then recognized, she decides to embark on both styles at once. She continued her violin training at Cégep Sainte-Foy, then studied at the University of Ottawa with Calvin Sieb and with Christian Vachon, Conservatoire de Gatineau. Also a singer, she studied with Madeleine Osbourne and tenor Steeve Michaud.
Touching different styles and musical genres, she continues her career as a violinist in the Gatineau Symphony Orchestra, in trio of French music with Michel Normandeau (Harmonium) as well as with various jazz bands. His activities are shared between stage and teaching. His private studio hosts about thirty students. Through her experiences as a violinist, pianist and singer, Véronique now performs with a wide variety of classical, jazz, hip hop and pop ensembles.
